The Douro Essencial is a 1-day Douro tour departing from Régua that combines four distinct experiences in one programme: landscape, wine, gastronomy and river. São Leonardo de Galafura Viewpoint — The Douro Seen from Above

Before the wine tasting, the programme takes you to the São Leonardo de Galafura Viewpoint, one of the most impressive and photographed vantage points in the Douro Valley. From this elevation, you have a panoramic view over the Douro River, the schist terraces and the vineyards that shaped a landscape recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It was here that Miguel Torga found inspiration for some of his most memorable writings about the Douro. A moment of contemplation that no photograph can fully capture.

The rabelo boat is the most iconic symbol of the Douro — for centuries it was the vessel used to transport Port wine barrels downstream — and sailing on one is a way of connecting with the history and soul of this region.
